This “frosty” smoothie bowl tastes like a refreshing milkshake! But, this milkshake is mineral and antioxidant rich!
We all know what a “Frosty” is what we all have a emotional childhood attachment to it.
Do you think about “Frosty’s” on hot summer days. When you think about that “Frosty” you are probably also thinking about reasons as to why you should not have it. Calories, ingredients and lack of nutrients are a few examples of what you may be thinking of. For me, it’s the upset stomach. It hurts my stomach so bad!
While, I am NOT saying any food is BAD. All food it fuel but we all know that turning to certain foods sometimes makes us feel not so good so I’m on a mission to allow you to eat your favorite while thriving!
I’m a chocolate lover so I do not take chocolate recipes lightly! They need to be perfect! So, I worked hard to make sure this one taste amazing.
Chocolate has a bad rap but it is actually a superfood when left raw (just the way I like it). I like to enjoy this smoothie bowl outside since it is really refreshing thanks to the ice.
Replace that “Frosty” with this one that comes but tons of benefits and zero guilt!
HOW TO MAKE A “FROSTY” SMOOTHIE BOWL
PREP. Grab all of your ingredients and prep: bananas and make sure you have all the ingredients. Freeze your bananas the night before. You can break them into 3 pieces or chop them and then freeze them. NOTE: When freezing fruit make sure you lay the fruit flat and do not stack them on top of each other. It will be very hard to break them apart when you are ready to use. DO NOT throw it a big chunk of fruit that is stuck together in the blender. It will NOT blend well and it is very hard on blenders – all blenders.
BLEND. Combine ingredients in a blender. Blend for 1-2 minutes or until it’s smooth, blended and thick. Pour into a bowl and enjoy all of that chocolately goodness!
MAKE A SMOOTHIE BOWL
A popular twist on a “Frosty” Smoothe is a smoothie bowl. It’s thicker and you eat it with a spoon like frozen yogurt. To get the desired consistency you will need to adjust the ingredients:
- Use frozen bananas.
- You will be using much letter liquid that you do with smoothies so please keep that in mind.
Note that this will require a strong blender so you don’t burn the motor. I use a Vitamix. I highly recommend a Vitamix if you are looking for a high quality blender that will last you a very long time.
Frequently Asked Questions about the “Frosty” Smoothie Bowl:
- 1. But, I want to enjoy it with straw. Can I do that? Sure! To make this recipe more like a smoothie add more liquid. Change out the amount of oat milk listed here with atleast half a cup of oat milk. Start to blend and slowly add milk until you get to your desired thickness and texture.
- 2. Can I replace the peanut butter with something else? Sure! If you are trying to cut calories you can swap out the peanut butter for PB2. It is a lower calorie version of peanut butter because it does not have all of the (healthy) fat found in natural peanut butter. PB2 is also powdered but do not worry – it blends very well. You can also swap out the peanut butter for almond butter or your favorite nut butter.
